Verification Methodology

We fill a hospital's policy fields only after reviewing its official website. Today that covers 23 of the 401 hospitals we list.

• Sources: Each reviewed hospital links to its official maternity page. We re-check that every source link still works each month, and remove details whose source has disappeared.
• Not confirmed: Fields we haven't checked are left blank and shown as "Not confirmed." Those hospital pages aren't submitted to search engines until they're reviewed.
• Reported figures: Annual births and NICU levels come from public listings and are labeled as estimates or reported values.
• Postpartum Room Privacy: Distinguishes 100% single-occupancy Mother-Baby units from facilities where standard insurance covers semi-private (two-bed) postpartum rooms with paid private upgrades.
• Doula & Visitor Rules: Tracks whether credentialed birth doulas are recognized as care-team support in addition to family visitors or counted inside the visitor cap.
• Hydrotherapy vs. Water Birth: Separates walk-in showers, first-stage labor hydrotherapy immersion tubs, and credentialed water-birth delivery pools.
